The Inheritance of Attributes

The Passing of Street Attributes to the Waterlines

If attributes are attached to city blocks and rights of way, our software identifies and transfers them to the waterlines. In this picture that operation is signified by the transfer of colors: an attribute represented by the red color in a right of way is applied to the waterline sections derived from it, up to the middle of the road. In turn, those attributes are passed from the waterlines to the centerlines. Thus our centerlines can be loaded with street names and numbers, as well as with identifications of blocks found to the left and right of the centerline. Other attributes are directly derived from the geometry of the data: areas and lengths of street sections and intersections
